Despite this, he persevered, teaching himself to read and developing a love for books and storytelling. His struggles led to a deep connection with the power of the written word, sparking a passion that would later evolve into his career as an author.

After high school, D.R. entered the military, a decision that profoundly shaped his writing. His time serving in various roles across the globe provided invaluable experiences, allowing him to incorporate themes of military strategy, leadership, and survival into his novels. These themes come alive in his works, especially in his books Mit-Ro-Don: 1974 and Olympus and the House of Tchrlok, where readers find themselves immersed in intergalactic battles, alien warfare, and ancient mythological reimaginings.

Following his military career and after the loss of his beloved wife, D.R. dedicated himself to writing full-time.
